Valentine's Day Decor

Valentine's day is less than a month away.  I always like to put a few things out to celebrate, especially throw pillows (I have a severe pillow problem- but hey, it's the easiest way to spruce up the sofa AND decorate).

Here are a few of my favorites:

Valentine's Day Prints: Etsy

I love looking around on Etsy to see all the wonderful art prints.  I especially love the ones where you pay a couple of bucks, download the file and have it printed from either your home computer or a professional print shop.  Easy, easy!

Below are my favorites prints for Valentine's Day!

DIY- Framed Marbled Art

I have been seeing a lot of marbled accessories- trays, clocks, boxes, etc. One day when I was looking online at decor, I came across marbled fabric. Goooooorgeous!

Ahhh!! I LOVE everything about this room.  The soft neutrals but mostly how that fabric just MAKES that room.  Without it, the room would be so boring.  Just. Perfect.

Anyways, as much as I would love to live in that room, that isn't happening. So, the next best thing: make some artwork out of marbled paper.

There are a lot of online sources that sell marbled paper but the two that I found to have the best selection are:

Dick Blick: Black Ink Thai Marbled Mulberry Paper

Paper Mojo: Marbled Paper

Well now I needed frames. Where else do you go when you need reasonably priced frames and a side of Swedish meatballs? Ikea! Duh. And since the closest Ikea is about 2 hours away...that meant, ROAD TRIP!  (yes, I know it would've been easier and probably cheaper in gas to get frames from Target which is 2 minutes away but hey, when the whole family is up for going to Ikea, you take advantage and don't think twice.)

The frames I ended up using were the Viserum series in white.  I bought a total of three: 2 of this size and 1 of this size.

So back to the paper.  I bought this black, gold and silver paper from Dick Blick.  We just purchased a new sofa and two chairs and since our sofa is a grayish color, I'm thinking of doing different shades of blue throw pillows. I thought the paper combo, sofa color and blues would work perfectly.  I ended up buying 3 sheets because every sheet is unique and different and I wanted to be able to "pick" out the best pattern from the sheet, cut it out and frame it.  However, the sheets are huge at 25" x 37" and I totally could have used only ONE sheet for all three frames. But at less that $6.00 a sheet, it was a steal.

*Sidenote: I also recently ordered this and this paper that has a bit more blue in it. This order hasn't come in yet but I like them all so I right now I can't decide which will permanently stay.  As for the unused paper, I will find something fun to do with it. :)

Yay!! I'm so happy and it was so easy AND super inexpensive.  Best of all, these papers come in so many colors so you are sure to find colors your love or that will go with your existing decor in your home.

Three frames = $30.00
1 sheet of Marbled Paper = $6.00
